I got this recipe from a random stranger at the Monrovia Dairyland one afternoon. I wrote it down on the back of a receipt, and it has been a family favorite over since.
(optional) soak chicken in buttermilk.
Combine egg and milk in a bowl.
Combine flour and seasonings in another bowl.
Heat 1/2" to 1" oil to 365.
Dredge chicken in flour mixture, the egg, and then flour mixture again. Fry in oil until crispy.
Serve with mashed potatoes.
