Suggest a better descriptionSift flour, baking soda, cloves, ginger and cinnamon into a bowl. Place remaining ingredients in a separate bowl. Add sifted dry ingredients – blend well. Cool dough in refrigerator about 15 minutes. Roll into small balls. Place on greased cookie sheet. Flatten balls with a flat-bottomed glass covered with a wet cloth. I give each ball three good whacks.
Bake on middle rack of oven, 350°, 8-9 minutes. Usually 8 minutes is sufficient. Yield is about 11 dozen small cookies (1 ½ to 2 inch diameter).
