Recipe I have used since mid 1960's.
Preheat oven 325?.
Add the sugar to the cut up apples and let stand for 1 hour. Sift together twice: flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and add to apple mixture. Add the eggs, vanilla, vegetable oil and nuts. Pour into a sheet pan and bake for 50 minutes.
