Place shortening in castiron skillet and melt on top of stove or in oven. Reserve melted shortnening after pan is heated.
Poor batter into hot skillet and spoon shortening over batter. Bake 20 minutes or until brown on top.
Turn out on plate bottom side up; use knive to release bread.
