1. Fry the chopped onions and the garlic together until the onions are golden.
2. Add the tomato puree and the basil and warm through.
3. Add the peeled chopped tomatoes and allow to simmer for about an hour on a low heat.
4. Add salt and pepper to taste and more basil if neccessary.
