Suggest a better descriptionPreheat oven to 375 degrees. Melt butter in a 9-inch cast-iron skillet in oven for 3 to 4 minutes, or melt butter in microwave and pour into a 9-inch round cake pan. Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, and sprinkle over butter. Pile chopped pecans in the center of the pan extending to a 4-inch diameter, leaving outer edges for apple slices. Cut 11/2 apples into 1/4-inch or less slices. Arrange apple slices in a circular pattern, slightly overlapping, butting up to pecans. Chop remaining half of apple and sprinkle over pecans. Sprinkle bacon pieces over apples. Cut biscuits into quarters and place on top of apples, bacon, and pecans. Bake for 28 to 30 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and no longer doughy in center. Cover with foil the last 7 minutes if needed to prevent over-browning. Remove cake from oven, wait 2 minutes, then carefully invert onto a serving platter. Lift pan off, and place any apples or bacon pieces that remain in the pan on top of biscuit cake. Serve warm with marmalade mascarpone topping.
