Pour 2 cups boiling water over 1 cup oatmeal.
Add: Shortening, brown sugar, molasses and salt. Let stand until cool.
Than add 1 heaping tsp of yeast dissolved in 1/2 cup lukewarm water.
Lastly knead in the flour on floured board.
Let rise 1 hour and shape into 2 loaves; let rise until double in size and bake 350 degrees for 1 hour.
