1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. In blender, combine 1/2 c. of the chocolate chips and 1 1/2 c. of the oats. Blend until chocolate is coarsely ground, about 15 seconds.
2. In large mixer bowl, cream butter, sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, salt, and oat/chocolate mixture. Stir in nuts and remaining oats and chocolate chips.
3. Drop by generous teaspoons onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes or until cookies are light golden brown. (Do not overbake. Cookies should be chewy.) Makes 6 dozen 2-inch cookies.
