Suggest a better descriptionHeat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cream together shortening/butter and sugars; beat in eggs and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt, and baking soda. Stir into creamed mixture. Stir in oats. Form into small balls, place about 1 1/2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees about 10 minutes or until lightly brown. Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheet. Makes about 6 dozen.
