1. Preheat oven to 350 deg.
2. Cream shortening and sugar together in a large mixing bowl. Add eggs. Mix well.
3. Sift flour in. Mix slowly so as not to make a mess.
4. Mix in oats and vanilla.
5. Roll into tablespoon-size balls and place on a greased cookie sheet, then bake for 15 min.
