Suggest a better descriptionCombine whole wheat flour, oats, molasses and shortening in bowl.
Microwave water until boiling. Stir into bowl and allow to cool until warm.
Stir yeast into warm mixture with salt. Stir in flour gradually to make a very stiff dough.
Knead on well floured surface until smooth. Return to greased bowl. Cover
Let rise in warm place until light and doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Shape into ball, cover with bowl. Let rest 15 minutes.
Butter a 10 inch pie plate or baking sheet. Sprinkle with corn meal.
Shape dough into 15 inch strip.
Brush lightly with milk, roll in oats to coat heavily, shape into ring on prepared pan, pinch ends together.
Place greased glass in center of ring. Let rise in warm place until light, 45-60 minutes.
Sprinkle top lightly with corn meal.
Microwave at 50% power for 6 minutes.
Microwave at full power for 4-6 minutes, until top springs back when touched lightly.
Let stand 10 minutes.
Cool on rack.
