I love making brownies, but unfortunately my boyfriend's co-worker was always left out when he would take them to his work. The poor guy can't eat chocolate, so I came up with this recipe instead. He loved it so much I had to give him the recipe.
Preheat oven to 350; foil and grease a 13 X 9 pan.
Beat together cream cheese and 1/3 cup sugar in large bowl until smooth. Beat in one egg and 1 tsp vanilla extract.
Sift together flour and salt and set aside.
In mixer, beat butter and 1 2/3 cup sugar until smooth.
Beat in 4 eggs, one egg at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in orange extract and orange zest. Mix flour and salt mixture into egg mixture slowly until just combined.
Remove one cup of batter and set aside, spread the remaining batter in prepared pan.
Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over batter, top with 1 cup batter and spread to the best of your ability. Pull a knife through layers with a slight lifting motion, in a zigzag pattern to create a marble pattern.
Bake 30-40 minutes (usually 40) and cool in pan on a wire rack. Cut the dish in 4X6 squares to get you 24 pretty orange brownies.
