Cook the sweet potatoes in large pot of boiling salted water until very tender, about 12 minutes. Drain.
In a medium glass or plastic mixing bowl, combine the potatoes, orange juice, butter and pumpkin pie spice. With a hand mixer, beat the mixture until smooth. Season with salt and pepper and serve.
