This recipe comes from "The Lady and Sons: Savannah Country Cookbook" by Paula Deen. I've edited the recipe to use boneless, skinless chicken breasts and taken out the grapes. This is my partner's favorite recipe and we like to use it for special occasions because he loves it so much.
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Melt butter in a 9 by 13-inch baking dish.
3. In a shallow dish, combine buttermilk and egg. In another dish combine flour, ground pecans, salt, paprika, pepper, and sesame seeds.
4. Dip chicken in buttermilk/egg mixture then in flour/pecan mixture. Place smooth side down in melted butter. Turn to coat and leave smooth side up.
5. Carefully arrange the pecan halves so that they completely cover the chicken breasts in the dish.
6. Bake for about 45 minutes (check at 35 minutes to make sure you don't over cook).

The above link is to the directions on the FoodNetwork website for this recipe, which is nearly identical to what she published in her book, except that she added grapes in the FoodNetwork version and left them out in her book.
I've edited this recipe slightly from what Paula published. We prefer NOT to use the grapes in the online recipe and we also do NOT use 2 whole chickens (as there are only 2 of us). We LOVE the crust, though, so we only use about 6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (less than the equivalent chicken in the original recipe), and then use rest of the entire recipe for the crust/topping.
Using boneless, skinless chicken breasts reduces the fat (no skin) and the cooking time (no bones) significantly from Paula's version. The fat content in this recipe is very high (darn you tasty butter!), so if FAT content is what you're watching, you really need to cut back on the butter here.
