In large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except the kisses. Mix like the usual recipe with the butters and sugars first, then add dry ingredients, then eggs, milk etc. Blend well at low speed. Shape into balls using a rounded teaspoon for each. Roll balls in additional sugar (optional) Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from oven. Top each cookie immediately with a candy kiss pressing down firmly so cookie cracks around edge.
