Ham, Swiss, Peppers and Onions make this a dish that will please even your pickiest eater. Crazy simple to prepare, and even the kids love it.
Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Sauté onions , bell pepper and 1 TBSP water on medium heat in a small skillet until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add in the shredded deli ham, cook for another minute. Stir thoroughly as to mix the ingredients together.
Line baking pan with parchment paper.
Open one package of crescent rolls and unroll, then arrange in a large rectangle on the parchment paper.
***DRAIN*** all of the juices out of the filling before spreading evenly over the layer of crescent rolls.
Top evenly with the 8 slices of Swiss Cheese.
Open and unroll the second package of Crescent Rolls (LARGE!!)
Arrange the same way (in a rectangle) on top of the mixture and cheese. Pinch all perforated areas on the dough closed. Pinch all of the edges closed as well.
Brush the entire top of the pastry with the beaten egg so as to limit the amount of puffing the crescent does. This makes it easier to hold as a sandwich, whether you have a corner piece or a middle piece.
OPTIONAL: After brushing with the egg, you may also sprinkle with sesame seeds before baking.
Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 23 minutes, or until golden brown.
If you do not --thoroughly-- drain the philly mix, it will make your entire dish soggy.
