Suggest a better descriptionRoll out pastry on lightly floured surface. Line greased 240mm flan dish with pastry. Prick well and place on baking tray.
Melt butter in pan and fry onions until soft but not brown. About 5 minutes.
Spread minced pilchards into pastry case. Spread onions over pilchards. Add parsley, basil, tomato slices and arrange black olives attractively in circle on top. Sprinkle with cheese.
Beat eggs and cream together, season and pour carefully over cheese.
Bake in a preheated oven at 190 C for 40 minutes or until golden brown, well risen and set.
Serve warm or cold.
