Old fashioned way of cooking
Wash beans and pick out bad ones. Put all ingredients into large pot. Slowly bring to boil. Slow boil for 3 to 4 hours until beans are soft. Taste for saltiness often, and add water as needed. Best if cooked down until thickened.
Best served with cornbread and coleslaw, these beans can be used as a base for chili.
