Most playdough recipes I've seen call for a minimum of 1 cup flour, and they make HUGE balls of dough. I've scaled this recipe down so that we can make lots of different colors. This recipe still makes a good amount of dough.
Mix all the ingredients together in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat. Stir constantly until the dough starts to "ball up." Remove from heat and allow to cool before playing with it.
NOTE: We usually make several colors at a time. To avoid washing the pot between doughs, I start with the lightest color first. Also, I cook primary colors first and secondary colors afterward. For instance, If I were going to make yellow, red, and purple dough, I'd cook them in that order (yellow is lightest so it doesn't affect red too much, red is a component of purple so it blends right in.)
