Suggest a better descriptionStir in wine, sugar and cinnamon sticks in heavy large saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Add pears; simmer until tender, about 12 mins. Using slotted spoon, transfer pears to baking dish. Chill until cold, at least 2 hours.
Boil cooking liquid until thickened and reduced to 1 1/2 cups, about 20 minutes. Strain. Cool to room temp.
Starting 1/2 inch below stem end, thinly slice pears lengthwise, leaving end intact. Arrange pears on plates, pressing gently to fan pear slices. Place scope of sorbet alongside. Drizzle pears and sorbet with sauce and serve.
