Suggest a better descriptionIn large deep pan over high heat bring water, cornmeal and salt to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer gently, stirring frequently to keep from sticking, until mixture is very thick (about 30 minutes). Use a long handled spoon; stir in butter if desired and salt if needed. Butter a deep medium size bowl, spoon Polenta in and let set for 10 minutes. Invert onto flat plate and cut into thick slices. You may want to put cheese and butter or some kind of sauce.
