My mother-in-law's recipe. She married in 1929 so I'm guessing this recipe is 90 years old. Mom always stored them on the 'east porch' in the winter. I don't have an east porch, so I put them in a bag in the garage to store in the cold.
1. Pop the popcorn and dump into large bowl.
2. Cook sugar, whipping cream, and syrup (stirring constantly) to hard ball stage (255 degrees). Remove and stir in butter and vanilla.
3. Pour over popcorn and stir until fairly evenly coated.
4. Butter hands or dip them in cold water or spray them with Pam. Form into balls, and wrap with plastic wrap.
5. Store in a cold place.
