Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan and add the onions. Cook gently for 30 minutes. Meanwhile heat the rest of the oil and cook the sausages over a low heat for 30 minutes or until cooked through and browned.
Stir the sugar and vinegar into the onions and cook on a high heat for 2 minutes.
Slice the sausages, sandwich between the slices of bread, adding onions
