In a large bowl, add 1 1/2 cup flour, yeast, sugar, salt and baking soda; mix thoroughly.
Pour warm liquid over dry ingredients. Mix at lowest speed with bread hook or by hand. Mix in remaining flour by hand, kneading until smooth.
Let rise until double in bulk; about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Punch down and shape into 20 to 24 rolls. Place on baking sheets lined with parchment paper and let rise for about 30 minutes. Bake in 400 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
