Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Prepare cinnamon topping. Set aside. Lightly grease 8 inch square or round baking pan. Set aside.
In a bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Pour milk into a 1-cup glass measure. Stir in egg and butter. Pour all at once into dryingredients. Stir just until flour is moistened. Pour batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle cinnamon nut topping evenly over batter. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until wooden toothpick comes out clean.
Cinnamon Nut Topping
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped nuts
1 tbsp flour
1 tbsp softened butter
2 tsp cinnamon
Combine ingredients in bowl, sprinkle over batter before baking.
