Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
1. On a lightly floured board, roll out each pastry shell to make a 6-inch circl.
2. Place on an ungreased, rimmed baking sheet. To each with about 2/3 cup cherries or 6 apricot halves, sprinkle each with teaspoon sugar, and lightly dust with the cardamom, cinnamon or nutmeg.
3. Baked, uncovered for bout 25 minutes, or until golden brown. Spread 2 teaspoons of jam over top of each to glaze.
Serve warm, plain or with sour cream (if desired).
