In a small bowl, sift together the flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda; set aside. In a large bowl, combine butter and sugars and beat until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla. Gradually add flour mixture; mix well. Add coconut, oatmeal, and cereal. Shape into balls by hand and drop on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with greased bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Bake 10-12 minutes or until light brown.
Note 1:
If you want softer cookies, use quick-cooking oats. For a chewier cookie with a more defined oat texture, use old-fashioned oats.

These cookies are versatile and can be made with a variety of ingredients commonly found in the kitchen pantry. Substitute Chex, Wheaties, or Rice Krispies for the Corn Flakes, or add in M&M’s™, or even mix in a few chocolate chips or peanut butter chips for extra crunch and flavor. Some people add raisins but that's gross and wrong.
