Suggest a better descriptionMix together butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Add egg yolks and vanilla, mix well. Next add flour and salt. Mix well. Then add walnuts, mix well. Roll into one inch balls. Beat the egg whites with a fork, dip ball into whites. Bake at 375 for 8 minutes. Open oven and press thumb or finger print into cookie. Bake for an additional one or two minutes.
Frosting: Melt butter in pan on stove until lightly browned. Mix in powdered sugar and vanilla. Add milk - enough to make it smooth and not too thick. Drop a teaspoon or so of frosting in each thumbprint while frosting is still warm. Heat frosting in pan if it cools and thickens before you have finished frosting.
