Suggest a better descriptionPlace beans in a large kettle, add water and soak overnight. Next day, add onion, green pepper, ham, salt and pepper to beans in their soaking water. Bring to boil, lower heat and cook 2-1/2 hours. Remove cover and cook another 30 minutes on lowest heat. Serve over beds of hot brown rice.
