Suggest a better descriptionCream shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs until light and fluffy. Add salt. Beat in cake flour and buttermilk alternating in quarters. Make paste of food coloring and cocoa and stir into batter.
In another bowl, mix vanilla, baking soda and vinegar and stir into batter.
Bake in oven preheated to 325 in greased pans 20-30 min.
For frosting, cook milk and flour until thickened. Cool. Cream sugar, vanilla and butter until fluffy. Blend into flour mixture.
