Old familiar recipe!
Melt margarine in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows (4 cups mini-marshmallows can substitute) and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. Add Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated. Using buttered spatula or waxed paper, press mixture evenly into buttered 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Cut into 2 x 2-inch squares when cool.
Variations:
Raisin - add 1 cup raisins with cereal.
Peanut - add 1 cup peanuts with cereal.
Peanut butter - stir 1/4 cup peanut butter into marshmallow mixture just before adding cereal.
For thicker squares, press warm mixture into buttered 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
Microwave directions: Microwave margarine and marshmallows on full power in large glass mixing bowl for 2 minutes. Stir to combine. Microwave on full power 1 1/2 to 2 minutes longer. Stir until smooth. Add cereal, stirring until well coated. Press into pan as directed above.
