Preheat the oven to 450F. Lightly oil an ovenproof dish into which the tomatoes fit snugly. Place the halved tomatoes in the dish (cut sides up) and push the garlic cloves between them.
Brush for 45 minutes or until the tomatoes have softened and charred around the edges. Sprinkle the oregano and basil all over the tomatoes and season with salt and pepper, if desired. Garnish with some rosemary sprigs for a pretty presentation.
