Fun and easy dish that children can make (even little ones can assemble them if you do the slicing). I found these in a 2012 issue of Parenting Magazine, and my daughter made them for Easter that year. We instantly dubbed them a family tradition!
1. Slice apple horizontally into 4 slices and remove core. (Peel it first if you wish.) 2. Place slices on plates and top each slice with crushed pineapple to resemble feathers. 3. Add blueberries for eyes. 4. Cut dried apricots to resemble feet, and cut apricot triangles for beaks. 5. Cut strawberries for comb. If you don't have exactly the right ingredients, use your imagination and whatever's on hand. We've used walnuts for feet when we didn't have dried apricots, and maraschino cherries instead of strawberries for the comb. Half the fun is being creative!
If fresh strawberries are unavailable, use apricots instead, as frozen strawberries are too mushy.
