Sausage bread is a meal in itself. It can be eaten hot or cold and slices up easily. Great for breakfast, lunch or anytime.
First cook the sausage and chopped green peppers. Set aside to cool. In a large bowl, combine 1 ¿ cups flour, 1 package yeast, 1 ¿ teaspoons sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 cup hot water (120-130F), 2 tablespoons olive oil, and mix well with wooden spoon. Mix in enough flour to form a stiff dough. On a floured surface knead dough until smooth, about 5 minutes. Place dough in a greased bowl, turn dough over to bring up grease side, cover with a towel let rise 30 minutes in a warm place (a pre-warmed microwave is a great place). Grease a large baking sheet on a lightly floured surface roll dough into a rectangle (15x12), sprinkle cheese on top of dough, sprinkle sausage mixture on top of cheese then lay the pepperoni on top if the sausage then sprinkle more cheese on top. Fold left side over mixture then fold the right side over seal the seams and tuck the end seams (pinch to seal) flip it on to baking sheet (be careful) seam side down make 4 to 5 slits in top. Beat 1 egg an brush over top of loaf bake in a 400 degree oven for 30 min. Remove when done, put on a cutting board, cover with a towel and let cool. Slice. Prep time 1-2 hour
