Holiday Sausage Dressing.
This dressing is very easy to make and freezes well. The sausage adds a wonderful flavor and is a great accompaniment to your holiday turkey.
From Hearts & Flours Cookbook: A Sampler of Recipes from the Heart of Texas by the Junior League of Waco.
Preheat oven to 325F.
Saute onions and celery in butter until tender and clear.
Bake cornbread and biscuits according to directions.
Crumble cornbread and biscuits into a large mixing bowl.
Mix soup and water; add to cornbread.
Stir in uncooked sausage, onion, celery, salt, pepper and sugar. Add sage to taste if desired.
Bake covered for 1 hour or steam for 3 hours.
