Suggest a better descriptionIn a large pot,heat oil over medium heat. Add onion,butter and carrot. cook,stirring, 5 minutes. Add garlic and pepper, cook 2 minutes.add potatoes and broth,bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer,cook until potatoes are tender, 10-15 minutes. Working in batches if necessary. Transfer almost 1/2 of the soup to a blender,puree and return to a pot. Add kale and sausage. Simmer until kale is tender 10-15 minutes.
