Suggest a better descriptionIn a heavy skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and saute until beginning to soften, about 5 minutes. Add the ground pork and pork sausage and cook, stirring often to break up the meats, until the meat loses its pink color, about 10 minutes. Pour in the tomato sauce, reduce the heat to very low, cover, and simmer for about 1 1/2 hours. As the sauce simmers, add the milk or cream a spoonful or two at a time to prevent scorching. At this point, the sauce should be thick and the juices should coat a spoon. Season to taste with salt and pepper. If the sauce is too thick, add a little meat stock to thin.
