Toast sesame seeds
Whisk water, soy sauce, maple syrup, sherry, ginger and 5 spice powder together in small bowl; set aside.
combine flour, salt and pepper together in a shallow dish, add chicken to coat.
heat oil, add chicken and saute until browned on all sides. Add soy sauce mixture to chicken and cook until sauce thickens and is almost evaporated--about 2-3 min after chicken is cooked.
Dip chicken pieces in sesame seed and serve. Drizzle with additional soy sauce mixture. Yields about 4 strips per serving.
