Suggest a better descriptionIn a medium saucepan, boil 4 cups of water. Add grits and salt and pepper to taste. Stir well. Lower heat as low as it will go, cover and cook the grits until all water is absorbed, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in butter and cheese. Keep covered until ready to use.
Fry bacon in a large skillet until browned and crisp. Remove bacon and drain on a paper towel. Rinse shrimp and pat dry. Add shrimp to the bacon grease and sauté over medium heat until they turn pink (3-4 minutes). As soon as they are pink, add the lemon juice, parsley, green onions and garlic. Stir to combine and remove from heat.
to serve, put grits on plate and top with shrimp mixture. Garnish with bacon bits.
