My son's college girlfriend, now wife, brought us these cookies and the recipe. Straight-forward classic snickerdoodles.
Preheat oven to 400°
Cream shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly.
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt.
Stir into shortening mixture.
Shape dough into 1" balls. Roll in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar plus the cinnamon.
Place 2 inches apart on un-greased baking sheet.
Bake 8-10 minutes.
