In microwaveable pie plate, prick sausage all over with fork. Cover with waxed paper; microwave at High for 1 1/2 minutes. Rotate and turn sausage over; microwave at High for 1 minute. (Or brown in skillet over medium-high heat.) Cut into thick slices. Meanwhile, in saucepan, heat oil over medium heat; cook onion and green pepper, stirring occasionally, for 2 to 3 minutes or until softened but not browned. Add sausage, tomatoes, rice, tomato paste, salt thyme and hot pepper flakes; bring to boil. Cover and reduce heat; simmer gently for 20 minutes or until most of the liquid is absorbed. Let stand for 5 minutes; stir well. Makes 1 serving. Note: If doubling this dish, the sausage will need an extra 2 minutes or so in the microwave.
