Tea time: mix sourdough starter, flour and the sugar & with milk & water that has been warmed in microwave for 30 seconds. Cover & leave on worktop until bed time.
Bed time: say “night night breakfast, be good” and pop covered bowl in the fridge!
Morning: take out of fridge when let dogs out for early morning pee and add the bicarb and the salt beating well. Leave it alone whilst make much needed coffee & shower (I left it perhaps an hour today as my kitchen quite cool, less if hot indoors).
Breakfast Time: Heat a lightly oiled frying pan on medium to medium low heat (5 on my induction hob) griddle pan add lightly oiled crumpet rings (I got mine from amazon, 4 for £10). Once pan got enough, I added 1/4 cup spoonful bit each ring and left alone until all dried and bubbly on top. Ring should just lift off once cooked up the sides or might need a bit of persuasion if sticky then flip and cook top until golden brown.
Serve: fresh out of pan with lashings of butter (traditionalist as I am!) or whatever you fancy. Leave to cool and store in airtight tub for toasting the next day. Lasts in theory 3 or so days but no matter how many I make they next seem to stick around for long ??
