It's that time of year again when a bunch of those tomatoes you planted don't ripen. The hot pepper sauce adds that little extra to this dish.
Cut the tomatoes into 1/2 inch slices. Beat the egg and the milk and hot pepper sauce in a shallow bowl. Combine the bread crumbs with the salt and pepper in a pie pan. Melt 2 tb of the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Dip the tomato slices in the milk mixture, shaking off any excess, then lightly coat with crumbs. Fry a few slices at a time until golden, about 2 minutes on each side. Transfer to a serving dish and keep warm. Fry remaining tomato slices, adding more butter to skillet as needed.
These turned out great. Served with a dash of hot pepper sauce on top for those that like it spicy. Will have it at least a couple more times this year.
