Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix together the pork, veal, beef, grated onion, chopped garlic, parsley, cumin, crushed red pepper, salt and pepper. Add the egg, breadcrumbs, anchovies and combine. Begin to form meatballs.
Heat a 12-inch saute pan over medium high heat. Add 2 T of the olive oil and add meatballs to the pan. Brown the meatballs on all sides. Remove from the pan and set aside.
In a medium pot, warm the olive oil. Saute the onion, garlic and chili flakes. Cook for five minutes and then add the rest of the ingredients. Add the meatballs and gently simmer the mixture until the meatballs are cooked through.
