Wash cranberries, drain. Turn into 3 1/2 quart saucepan. Add 1 up water and spices. Cook, covered, over medium heat just until cranberries burst...about 10 minutes.
Remove from heat. Stir in sugar. Cook stirring over low heat for 5 minutes. Cool. Refrigerate covered. Serve cold, removing spices.
