Great for the winter.
Soak peas for 24 hours.
In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat, heat olive oil. Cook onion, carrot, celery, ham and garlic until onion is translucent. Add to slow cooker. Stir in green split peas, broth, seasoning and salt. Cook on high for 3 hours and then, then reduce heat and simmer 2 1/2 hours, stirring frequently. Puree 1/2 the soup mix with a blender or food processor. Return to pot, heat through, and serve.
