This is comfort food at its finest. My whole family loves this.
Directions:
Melt butter in a Dutch oven (or large skillet) on medium heat. Add beef and cook until meat is browned, stirring occationally, drain. NOTE: The meat might not be tender at this point depending on the cut but it will be by the end of cooking time.
Stir in all remaining ingredients except water, flour and noodles. Heat to boiling, cover and reduce heat. Simmer approximately 1 1/2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes.
During the last 20 minutes of cool time cook noodles in seperate pot as directed so everything is ready at the same time.
Mix flour in the COLD water and gradually add into the beef mixture to thicken, while constantly stirring. Boil for 1 minute to heat thoroughly.
Note: This recipe freezes well. You might want to double the recipe to make an additional "quick" dinner for a later time. Cook noodles at time of serving for freshness. You can freeze with leftover noodles mixed in with beef as well.
