This sweet and creamy steak sauce was taught to me by my father in law. It is also very tasty with seafood, especially shellfish such as crab or crayfish.
1. Heat oil in skillet on a high heat, you want the steak to cook quickly
2. While the skillet is heating start boiling the water for the vegetables
3. Salt the steak and throw in the skillet, cook to slightly less than desired (if you like medium, cook until rare for now)
4. Holding steak in skillet with tongs, carefully pour out the oil
5. Place skillet back on heat and add wine, swish it around the skillet
6. Add cream, mushrooms, Frangelico & garlic to skillet, keep cooking on high heat
7. Get the vegetables in the steamer or boiling water
Once vegetables are ready, mushrooms have softened and steak is cooked to desired level it is ready to serve. The vegetables are boiled with nothing added as the sauce will provide plenty of rich flavour to dip them in.
I serve it with plain steamed vegetables and potatoes kumara (sweet potato) to balance the rich sauce
