Yummy, satisfying and healthy!
1) In blender place the strawberries, then bananas and then top with milk. In Magic Bullet: bananas, strawberries, then milk. The idea is to put the hardest items closest to the blades.
2) Mix until blended. You could mix it until smooth. I like mine a little chunky with bits of strawberry showing throughout.
NOTES:
*If smoothie is too thick add more water or milk. If it's too thin add a couple ice cubes.
*If you're allergic or intolerant to the milk, try orange juice or water.
*You can also use fresh fruit as opposed to frozen. Just add ice cubes to make thicker. Or you can just cut up the fresh fruit and place it in the freezer for 1-2 hours. The more frozen the fruit gets the thicker the smoothie gets.
*I like to buy the fruit in bulk when it's on sale at the Farmer's Market and prepare them, then freeze. Place fruit in one layer on a cookie tray to freeze 2 hours to overnight. Place in labeled freezer bags after inital freeze.
*The bananas give it a creamier texture and a more mellow, sweet flavor. People who don't normally eat bananas will love this smoothie recipe too!
This recipe is one of my favorites because its so healthy. No sugar added and you won't miss it either. Another great thing about this recipe is that it is so fulfilling. I even eat mine with a soon. I love it late night when I crave something "bad" to snack on. Go for it! It's a better alternative to a snack cake!
