Sift together dry ingredients and cut in shortening. Beat egg and milk and add to dry ingredients. Pat out dough on floured surface to 1 inch. Brush 1/ the top with melted butter. Fold over to the other half so it can be cut in rounds for individual servings. Bake 10-20 minutes at 375 degrees. Split cake open and serve with strawberries and whipped cream.
